Contagiousness of pink eye
Common causes of pink eye include bacteria, viruses and allergens. What are the pink eye symptoms you or your child is suffering from? It all depends on which type of conjunctivitis/ pink eye you are a victim of. A child can get pinkeye by touching an infected person or something an infected person has touched, such as a used tissue. In the summertime, pinkeye can spread when kids swim in contaminated water or share contaminated towels. It also can be spread through coughing and sneezing.
Pink eye affects not only the outer lining of the eye, which makes the white part of the eye appear pink or red. It also affects the inner lining of the eyelid. This can unfortunately result in swelling of the sensitive eyelid. On examination the eyelid will appear to be red and inflamed.
